# Heart Your Health in Review

We hope you've enjoyed the education and tips this week brought to you by Heart Your Health with HealthCheck360°! Let's review the most important points from this week:

**Stress Less **
Stress is the body’s response to a demand, whether good or bad. Stress can cause your heart to race, blood pressure to increase, and chemicals and hormones to be released. Too much or chronic stress is bad for your heart and can increase your risk for heart disease. It’s important to relieve stress with exercise, meditation or relaxation techniques, and healthy social relationships.

**Heart Disease Myths **
We learned that heart disease affects women even more than cancer, and that it affects both men and women. We also learned that exercise alone isn’t the only factor that you should focus on to decrease your risk of heart disease and monitoring your cholesterol and diet can help you keep your risk in check. Lastly,  even though heart disease may run in your family, it’s not a inevitability.

**The Case for Cardio **
Cardiovascular exercise is essential for heart health as it promotes weight loss weight strengthening your heart. The American Heart Association recommends that adults complete at least 30 minutes/day of moderate to intense aerobic activity 5 days/week or 25 minutes/day of vigorous aerobic activity 3 days/week.

**Heart Healthy Helpings **
Eating healthy can greatly reduce your risk of heart disease. Snacking smart with whole foods can prevent overeating and help you watch your cholesterol. Choosing heart healthy fats and avoiding refined or processed foods can help you improve your cholesterol.
