Learn how to connect myFitnessPal to Apple Health to sync with myHC360+!
How to connect- Launch MyFitnessPal app for the iPhone
- Tap More••• (lower right-hand corner of the home screen) > Settings > Sharing & Privacy > HealthKit Sharing
- You will then be presented with options for linking to Health, and for selecting the types of data you permit MyFitnessPal and Apple Health to share. We would suggest turning all categories on, and then selecting Allow
Please note: This data-type selection screen inside the MyFitnessPal app will appear only the very first time that you authorize HealthKit Sharing.
Checking or Changing Settings after Connected
If you would like to change the sharing options after linking MyFitnessPal and Health, Apple requires that you visit the Settings app on your iPhone.
Please note: If you visit “HealthKit Sharing” in the MyFitnessPal app after initially setting up Apple Health, you will not see the options to link or unlink.
To find this information in your iOS settings after initial prompt in our app
- Launch the iPhone’s Settings app (not the MyFitnessPal app) > tap Health > Data Access & Devices > My FitnessPal
- There you will find the options for changing the permissions that govern MyFitnessPal’s sharing with Apple Health
- Since Apple Health is hosted by your device (and not as a separate downloadable app) it will not show as Connected under your Connected Apps in MyFitnessPal.
Learn what data can be shared:
- Food - MyFitnessPal will update Meal Summaries (calories and some nutrients, we currently do not track caffeine or send Vitamin A) to Apple Health. Food will not add from Health to MyFitnessPal.
- Please note: MyFitnessPal does not support the sync of timestamps of when foods are logged in MyFitnessPal to Apple Health.
- Exercises - Exercises that are logged in Apple Health will send to MyFitnessPal as long as the exercise was logged on the same day. If MyFitnessPal is opened/synced after midnight, the exercises from the previous day will not sync. Exercise does not transfer from MyFitnessPal to Apple Health.
- Weight - MyFitnessPal and Apple Health will update weight in both directions.
