Getting enough exercise in the winter can be tough.  We are here to help you get outside with some helpful tips on dressing for the weather!

  1. Dress to stay dry, not just to stay warm.  The quickest way to lose body heat is by getting
  2. wet, and in the winter your body has to deal with sweat as well as precipitation.  Choose clothing with synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon, and polypropylene to help wick away moisture from your body.
  1. Layer up.  The right layers will keep warm air next to your body while allowing moisture to escape.  Choose a thin layer made of synthetic fabrics to wear closest to your body.  Your next layer adds more warmth, such as a fleece.  The outer layer is to protect you from wind, snow, and rain.
  2. Wear bright colors.  Visibility isn't as good in the winter due to shorter daylight hours as well as snow and rain.  Be sure to wear something bright so others can see you if you are heading outside.
