Laugh Your Way to Better Health

Written by Coach Cher

Life is hard and can easily get you down if you don't keep a positive attitude.  Coach Cher shares with us her favorite way stay healthy and happy.  Check it out below and tell us what makes you LOL!

We have all heard the phrase “laughter is the best medicine.” Well, I’m here to tell you this rings true in my life. I think back to all of the tragedies in my life and people have asked, “How do you keep a smile on your face?” I really try to focus on being in the moment. Having a sense of humor and laughing with friends can pull me out of any funk. A good laugh can actually improve your health—it’s true! Research has shown that the health benefits of laughter are far-reaching. I could tell you about all the articles and studies I’ve read that have shown that laughter decreases stress hormones, helps relieve pain, brings greater happiness, and even increases immune cells. Instead, I’ll just encourage you to spend some time laughing with family and friends and remember how that makes you feel. I feel almost enlightened after laughing with my girlfriends and that’s all due to my body’s natural, feel-good endorphins, which help promote that overall sense of wellbeing.

Go ahead and give it a try:

  • Turn up the corners of your mouth and give a little laugh.
  • Try not to be so serious all the time and go laugh with your friends or family.
  • Find humor in your life!

Even corny jokes can improve your mood! That being said... I've got a good one for you:

Do you know where in a hospital the invisible man can't hide?
