4 Simple Ways to Stay Well, From Coach Michelle

4 Simple Ways to Stay Well, From Coach Michelle

HealthCheck360's Senior Account Manager and Health Coach Michelle, breaks down what she does to stay active on her busy days.  Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to mean staying at the gym for 2 hours a day or following an extreme diet.  Michelle gives us a glimpse into the 4 easy ways she makes her health a priority.  Thanks for sharing Michelle!

Staying healthy and active is not only an important part of my life but it's my job.  I travel throughout the state of Texas during the week for HealthCheck360, so keeping my health and fitness as simple as possible is best for me.

  1. Hydration is Key. I keep a water bottle with me everywhere, and one of the first things I do when I wake up is drink some water.  I only drink water and coffee, no sugary drinks for me.
  2. Reminders and Routines. I wear a FitBit and make sure I get my steps in when I get my hourly reminder.  My daily goal is set to 8,000 steps per day.  My actual goal is to hit 10,000 steps, but I was finding that I was consistently not hitting my goal.  So rather than getting discouraged I re-evaluated and once I'm consistently exceeding my 8,000 step goal I will increase back to 10,000.
  3. SMART Goal Setting. I try to be as specific as possible so I can measure my success.  Currently I'm doing a 30 minute at-home workout 3 times a week.  I'm going to be doing this for 6 weeks and if I do it consistently, I'll change it up and find something more challenging.
  4. Staying Accountable. I live by the advice, "you can skip one day, but don't skip two in a row".  This has helped give myself the ability to take a break when I need it and not feel guilty or discouraged.  At the same time, it motivates me to not skip the second day!
